Lucy Hurds, Hereford's would-be Lib Dem MP, has welcomed today's announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg of major new funding of £ 39.4 million for Herefordshire.

"We have been using our contacts in national government" said Lucy "to promote the need for extra money. We were pleased to welcome Lib Dem Lord Shipley to Hereford in April. He is a government advisor on the regional growth fund and was influential in the decision that has been made today".

This funding will ensure transport improvements in Hereford including the Southern link road from Grafton to Clehonger. "This news brings us an important step closer to a Hereford bypass" added Lucy Hurds. "We are delighted with today's news for Herefordshire and are pleased to be part of making it happen".
